Dr. Chumchal's research is focused on human-environment interactions – specifically ecology and environmental toxicology; with emphasis on aquatic–terrestrial linkages, mercury cycling, and Arctic ecotoxicology. He teaches across biology and pre-health curricula with recent courses including: Examining Eugenics, Race and Modern Biology, Pre-Health Professional Development, and Topics in Medicine. He mentors undergraduate and graduate researchers while advising large cohorts of pre-health students.
Cami studies wildlife ecology and ecotoxicology, with a focus on mercury bioaccumulation in Arctic food webs. She earned her BS in Biology from the University of North Florida, where she studied coastal species including dolphins, alligators, sea turtles, and shorebirds, experiences that continue to shape her interests in conservation and wildlife health. Nicole Fordree is broadly interested in wildlife ecology and the impact of exotoxins on avian food webs in the arctic. She received her B.A. in Environmental Biology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2024 and has since conducted ecological research in several ecosystems across the U.S. from Eastern Washington to Wyoming that have continued to shape her interest in wildlife conservation.
